(5) New Elementary Schools

 

Location: Lancaster, Ohio

Client: Lancaster City Schools/Ohio Schools Facilities Commission

Description:          This project involves the design and construction of five new elementary schools designed to meet LEED Silver Certification standards. Mechanical and electrical engineering design involves energy-efficient site utility, plumbing, HVAC, and electrical systems.  HVAC design includes heating water boilers and modular indoor central-station air-handling units.  Electrical design includes power systems, LED classroom lighting, dimming controls, site lighting, fire detection and alarm system, and natural-gas emergency generators.  Plumbing and fire suppression design includes wet-pipe fire-suppression system and ultra-low-flow plumbing fixtures.  Each school includes a kitchen and a food service and ware-washing area. Autodesk® Revit® is being used for building information modeling (BIM).

 

Central Elementary School: 600 students, 70,700 square feet, grades K‑5. Construction-Manager-at-Risk project delivery method. Estimated Cost: $ 12,160,400. Estimated Completion Date: 2015.

 

East Elementary School: 600 students, 70,700 square feet, grades K–5. Construction-Manager-at-Risk Project delivery method. Estimated Cost: $ 12,160,400. Estimated Completion Date: 2016.

 

North Elementary School: 625 students, 74,320 square feet, grades K–5. General Contracting project delivery method. Estimated Cost: $ 12,660,000. Estimated Completion Date: 2015.

 

South Elementary School: 750 students, 88,300 square feet, grades PK–5. Construction-Manager-at-Risk Project delivery method. Estimated Cost: $ 15,187,600. Estimated Completion Date: 2016.

 

West Elementary School: 625 students, 74,320 square feet, grades K–5. General Contracting project delivery method. Estimated Cost: $ 12,660,000. Estimated Completion Date: 2015.
