Canal Winchester Local School District

about this project

This project involved renovations and an addition to the existing high school to house grades 9-12. The overall project involved approximately 197,957 sq. ft. of renovations and the addition of two wings (48,544 square feet) to Canal Winchester High School, a two-story building, located on a 25-acre site, that was originally constructed in 1976, with additions added in 1993 and 2003.

RDFA worked with the Architect on Master Planning for the High School in 2016.  Design began in August 2017.  The renovations involved converting existing administrative offices into an extended learning student gathering space, converting the existing media center into new administrative offices, expanding the student dining area, and creating science laboratories.  Additions included space for blended learning classrooms, project laboratories, a new media center, and an auxiliary gymnasium.

RDFA’s role was to provide the Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing and Fire Protection design services for this project, including limited construction phase services to review MEP/FS construction.

Notable engineering features of this Project: Renovation and addition were performed in phases while the school was occupied.
