Ohio History Connection: History Center Renovation
Project details
The Ohio Historical Center primary metered and has (3) substations and (2) diesel generations for emergency and standby loads.
Electrical design included updating substations in mechanical rooms. Upgraded emergency power distribution panels, ensure reliable emergency power. Additionally, life safety loads were separated from standby loads.
This project involved the removal of two (2) existing 150kW diesel fired electrical power, replacement of the original switchgears, emergency generators, and underground fuel tanks.
The project contained the below substation information:
Substation 1 (13.2 kV, 3-phase primary, 480/277 volt secondary, 3,000 amp main circuit breaker) - Secondary distribution was replaced in 2015 as part of a chiller upgrade project.
Substation 2 (13.2 kV, 3-phase primary, 208/120 volt secondary, 3,000 amp main circuit breaker) - Installed in 1967 and needed to be upgraded.
Substation 3 (13.2 kV, 3-phase primary, 208/120 volt secondary, 4,000 amp main circuit breaker) - Installed in 1967 and needed to be upgraded.
Generator 1 (North)- (1) 150 kW, 208/120 volt, 3-phase, 4-wire, indoor diesel genset with in-ground tank serves the north side of the building. Genset was installed in 1967 and needed to be upgraded.
Generator 2 (South)- (1) 175 kW, 208/120 volt, 3-phase, 4-wire genset indoor diesel genset with in-ground tank serves the south side of the building. Genset was installed in 1967 and needed to be upgraded.
